Note: if you're on a cell phone, you'll probably need to zoom the map out a bit to see the trail.
Distance: 3 miles (4.8 km) round trip from the Lower Yosemite Falls trailhead
Trailhead Elevation: 3,967 feet (1,347 meters)
Elevation Gain: 1,000 feet (300 meters)
Map Notes: The yellow line marks the route from the Lower Yosemite Falls trailhead to the official Upper Yosemite Falls trailhead. You'll probably start here, at the big green hikers, since the shuttle bus stops here. If you walk from the Yosemite Village day-use parking lot (see the big blue "P" on the map), it's just over half a mile farther.
The red line marks the stretch of the Upper Yosemite Falls trail that takes you to Columbia Rock. Though this stretch only covers a small portion of the Upper Yosemite Falls trail, you'll discover that it manages to include a high percentage of the switchbacks on the trail. In fact, it stops just before the easiest part of the trail. If you've got extra time, you might prefer to keep hiking to the falls overlook - watch for a right fork about when the trail veers left towards the falls.
