Tenaya Lake (Yosemite) from the western shore

Tenaya Lake

Tenaya Lake is Yosemite's largest and most freakishly scenic lake, so depending on your perspective and level of conditioning, it's either wonderful or terrible that you can drive right to it. The Tioga Road runs along its northern bank, and you can walk to the above viewpoint (which faces east) in about as much time as it would take to browse through the evening's tv schedule. You can hike all the way around the lake, although there's no bridge over the outlet at the western end and you might get your feet wet if you're early enough in the year.
