Granite shelf along Yosemite's Ten Lakes Trail

Ten Lakes Trail - First View

This spot is about a mile into the hike, where the dirt trail is interrupted by a large field of granite dotted with the occasional tree or boulder. The lack of timber here opens up a pleasant first-act view to the east, though the vistas will get significantly more dramatic once you reach Ten Lakes Pass. It can be a challenge to find where the trail resumes from one end of the granite to the other (at least for me, anyway), so try not to end up going through this area after dark if it's your first time on the trail.
