Pothole Dome Satellite View

Distance:  2.5 miles (4 km) round trip
Trailhead Elevation:  8,500 feet (2,550 meters)
Pothole Dome Elevation:  8,760 feet (2,670 meters)
Elevation Gain:  250 feet (75 meters)

The red line marks the Pothole Dome trail. It veers west from the trailhead so it can skirt around the western edge of Tuolumne Meadow en route to the dome's base, and in case that detour doesn't give you enough of a hint, there's also a sign at the trailhead asking you to stick to established trails when you're in the meadow itself.

Though there's a well-defined trail for the section of this hike along the western edge of Tuolumne Meadow, there isn't one up Pothole Dome, and this map shows a more or less arbitrary route to its summit. Feel free to improvise and produce a better one on your own trip.

The two lakes visible near the right edge of the map are actually the world's most scenic sewage treatment ponds.
