Hike Distance: 1 mile (1.6 km) round trip for the Plug Trail;
1.5 miles (2.4 km) loop for the Rim Trail
Trailhead Elevation: 6,840 feet (2,080 meters)
Elevation Gain: ~200 feet (60 meters)
Distance from Yosemite: 21 miles (34 km)
1) From Yosemite's eastern entrance at Tioga Pass (street view here), drive 12 miles (19 km) east to the intersection with Highway 395 (see the blue line on the map above; street view here).
2) Turn south (right) on 395 and drive just under 5 miles (8 km) to the 120 East intersection (see the left-hand orangish-brown line on the map; street view here).
3) Turn left (east) on 120 East and drive 3.1 miles (5 km) to the Panum Crater turnoff (see the purple line on the map). Here's a Street Vew panorama of the turnoff onto the Panum Crater Road. Watch for the little "Panum Crater" sign along the left side of the road (you might need to zoom in to get a clear view of it). Panum Crater itself is also visible off in the distance in this street view.
4) Turn left (north) onto the unpaved Panum Crater road and drive 0.8 miles (1.3 km) to the trailhead parking area (see the right-hand brownish-orange line on the map).
