South Fork Campground

Unlike the Lumsden Campground, the South Fork isn't right on the river. It's a short walk, though - you can't get too far from the river in this canyon.

You'll go through a noticeable ecosystem change on the drive to the Lumsden/South Fork/Lumsden Bridge campgrounds. At the top of Lumsden Road, where you start your descent into the canyon, you'll be driving through tall pines, but by the time you reach the bottom of the gorge, the conifers will have largely given way to oaks.

The South Fork has eight first-come, first-served campsites, a lone pit toilet, and no potable water. It also has no trash service - if circumstances compel you to subsist on beer, be sure to haul your empties out with you.
