Yosemite in autumn has its rewards, but spectacular waterfalls are not among them. If you want to get drenched in the mist from Vernal Fall, get there as soon after snowmelt as you can. The falls usually peak in May, although the high-water point can range from April to early June depending on how wet the previous winter was.
