Looking east across Yosemite Valley to Half Dome from the Columbia Rock viewpoint, roughly a mile up the trail from the second trailhead. The dropoff here is steep, but there are iron guardrails for the brave to lean on.

The top of North Dome is just visible near the left edge of the photo. The Mirror Lake trail leads into the valley underneath the face of Half Dome, and the Mist Trail (Nevada and Vernall Falls) heads away into the valley off to the right of Half Dome.
