Looking down on Vernal Fall, Yosemite National Park

Above Vernal Fall

This is the view from the top of Vernal Fall down the canyon to the Merced River, more than 200 feet below. There's a guardrail here, but I've leaned out over it to get this shot. I'll go to any length to get helpful photos for my readers, as long as it doesn't involve any actual danger or inconvenience.

You can see the Mist Trail itself winding through the lower left section of the photo, and if you're sharp-eyed and perhaps a touch imaginative, you can spot the three hikers on the trail. Near the lower center of the picture, you can see the gigantic dead tree that's prominent in this gallery's bottom-up photos (here, here, and here) of Vernal Fall. Around the exact center of the photo, you should be able to spot the Vernal Fall footbridge.
