Looking south at the dome north of Olmsted Point, and beyond it to Clouds Rest and Half Dome

Looking Back at the Dome Across the Road From Olmsted Point

If you climb the dome across the road from Olmsted Point, then proceed along the ridge of the dome all the way to the next mountain over to the east, you'll be able to look back and see the north slope of the dome you just climbed. From here it looks a bit like the humped back of some great granite-plated, prehistoric sea serpent surfacing for air after getting farther off course than you'd really expect. This area was underwater 20,000 years ago (OK, under ice, if you want to get really picky), so maybe it just got distracted for a few millenia or is slow to notice things. Rocks can be that way.
