Big Meadow, Foresta, and fire damage

Big Meadow & Foresta

The 1990 A-Rock fire, starting near Yosemite's Arch Rock entrance on Highway 140, burned more than 16,000 acres, including several buildings in Foresta. The area still hadn't fully recovered by 2009, when the Big Meadow prescribed burn, scheduled to cover 91 acres, escaped its captors and torched more than 7,000 instead (see these Big Meadow fire photos). The Foresta area can be excused, I suppose, for looking a bit singed.
