This picture features two of Yosemite's most famous landmarks: Half Dome and the waterfalls of the
Mist Trail. The falls plummet a combined 911 feet (277 meters) and are easily audible from
here in the springtime, despite being two miles (3.2 km) away. The big granite lump to the left of Nevada Fall (the upper fall) is Liberty Cap. It looks particularly impressive when
seen from the John Muir Trail.
Clouds Rest, though partially hidden behind Half Dome, is actually more than a thousand feet higher (9,926 vs. 8,846).
