Yosemite Falls and the Merced River from the Swinging Bridge

Yosemite Falls

The Swinging Bridge, so called because it goes to both sides of the river, is an excellent spot from which to see and photograph Yosemite Falls.

The Merced River is higher than normal in this springtime picture, but you can still usually catch a reflection of Yosemite Falls in the river the rest of the year - although the falls usually dry up altogether by late summer or autumn.

If you cross the bridge and continue along the trail (actually a bike path), it will lead you in a mile or so to Yosemite Lodge and, just across the road from the lodge, to the trailhead for Lower Yosemite Falls itself.
