If you want to see delicate layers of mist snaking across Yosemite Valley, you usually have to arrive at the Tunnel View early in the morning. Sometimes, though, stormy conditions will bring mist later in the day. This shot was taken at sunset, though the sun itself was noticeably absent from the proceedings. I realize it's expensive to heat a large place like Yosemite, but still, budget shortfalls or not, there was a scandalous shortage of degrees in the air that evening.
