Ahwahnee Hills Park
The Ahwahnee Hills Regional Park is 400 acres of county-owned land along Highway 49 at the north end of Ahwahnee (see the map below). It includes a 2.7-mile hiking loop, one of the highlights of which is this 15-acre pond. Bring binoculars to see the ducks, which amble off to the pond's far reaches when they see people coming, and the Western Pond Turtles, which can often be found sunning themselves on stumps poking out above the pond.
