This is the view looking east to Yosemite Valley from the top of Turtleback Dome. The photo cheats by zooming in a bit (to 100 mm on a crop-sensor camera, in case that's meaningful to you) to maximize the drama, but it's still impressive in person. For the sake of completeness, see just below a photo from the same spot zoomed out to 24 mm, which is wider and more distant than it looks from on the scene, and below it, for comparison, a photo from the Tunnel View, which is about a mile and a half closer to the valley.
