Cathedral Peak from the western edge of Tuolumne Meadows
Cathedral Peak
You can find this vista at the western edge of Tuolumne Meadows, where the Tuolumne River winds its reluctant way out of the meadow to begin its eventually raucous journey to Glen Aulin. To get here, park at the west end of the meadow and take the trail that skirts the edge of Pothole Dome. Once you have the river on your right, turn around.
If you're taking this journey in the spring, prepare for it as if you were about to give blood - eat a full meal beforehand and bring a friend in case you can't drive afterwards. Alternately, you could bring a new can of mosquito repellent or perhaps full-body armor.
