Tenaya Lake, Yosemite National Park, partially covered in ice in early June

Tenaya Lake

This is the sublime view facing eastward from the western shore. Ice on the lake is a rarity when the Tioga Road is open; this photo was taken on opening day in early June. The large dome on the left is Polly Dome (9,806 feet / 2,989 meters); the smaller dome near the center of the far horizon is Pywiack Dome (8,851 feet / 2,698 meters); and Tressider Peak (10,600 feet / 3,231 meters) is the large mountain at center. Lower Cathedral Lake is just beyond it; you can look down on Tenaya Lake from its western shore.
