The red line shows the main route from the trailhead at Tioga Road to North Dome. It's 4.4 miles (7.1 km) one way. There's a net loss of elevation on your trek to North Dome, but you'll go over several hills on the way.
The blue line shows the detour to Indian Rock Arch. It's a little under half a mile (0.8 km), but climbs 300 feet (90 meters). This is a small price, however, for the opportunity to find a rock that you can walk through. Buckaroo Banzai had to plow into the 8th dimension at enormous expense, personal risk, and velocity in order to achieve this, and you would quail at the prospect of a little bit of a hike? Surely not.
