Why is no one leaning over the railing to look down into the abyss below Taft Point? Maybe because by this late in the afternoon all the crazy people have already plunged to their deaths and only the cautious ones, who aren't inclined to trust a few strands of rusty metal pipe to save them from a three-thousand-foot plunge, are left.

It's just a theory, though. By the way, the great granite cow catcher on the opposite side of the valley is El Capitan, and to its left is El Capitan Meadow. If you look at this photo through binoculars, you should be able to spot a dozen or so people in the meadow watching the climbers on El Cap and hoping to see something exciting, such as someone not falling.
